November 13, 2009 (WLS) -- Good dental care may help aging adults keep their thinking skills intact.
A new study finds that adults ages 60 and older with high levels of the gum disease-causing bacteria are three times more likely to perform poorly on memory tests.
The findings are reported this month in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry.
Previous research has established a strong link between poor oral health and heart disease, stroke diabetes, and Alzheimer's disease.
